Today we got the opportunity to meet with one of cardiologist’s patients. It was great to have an application of what’s going on in the classroom. After all, medicine is all about helping people. I really appreciated learning about Mr. B’s life, his multiple heart attacks (FOUR!!), and the steps he took to improve his health. Really amazing day.
P.S. Angiograms can be used to detect blockages in coronary arteries (supply blood to the heart). A catheter is inserted into an artery and threaded through the arterial system until it reaches the heart, where it releases an X-ray contrast agent.
